Musings 164--Tell the dumbass to shut up!

Orrin Hatch, R, Utah, has just gone from being a whinny little wimp to a dumbass. That usually takes some time to do, but in Hatch's case it was a short trip.

Orrin Hatch has joined the Vice President of the United States in fearmongering to the hilt. VP Cheney has called Ned Lamont, candidate for U.S. Senate, as one who encourages"the al-Qaida types." Hatch says that if you vote for a democrat you are helping terrorist. Wow, have we come a long way from being Americans with just different views. (See Link)

Long ago in a far away land, it was thought that democrats and republicans were both good folks--just misguided. Today, the republican view point is that if you disagree with them; then, you must be on the far left or "an al-Qaida type." There is no room for debate. You are either for everything they believe in, or you are an evil person who is against the troops in Iraq. This is the legacy that hatemongers such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have given us. Orrin Hatch now joins their ranks.

It used to be that people of both parties would disagree and then go have a drink together. When Newt Gingrich led his take over of the House of Representatives in 1992, he came in with a bitter bunch of reformers. Democarts were evil. All Democrats were liberal. Democrats were weak on defense. It was quaint for a bit...now it is getting old. It is also tearing at the fabric of our country. Believe it or not, there are democrats that love America.

So as a reformed republican, I say to Orrin Hatch: "Shut up, you dumbass. There are American Republicans that don't agree with you. We aren't evil and we don't love al-Qaida."
